Plague Rabbit

Bleah.

I am a bunny with the plague.

It's been a rough week, AND I have Wendy's cold.

She told me "See, I DID give you something for working Genghis Con".

Gee, thanks.

Bleah.

More posts when I can breathe through my nose again.

Gamer Bunny at Genghis Con - Pt 3 (The End)

Final day of the convention, and I decided that I should get Elizabeth a little something for being such a major sweetie.

I looked around a little bit while people were getting their booths open in the morning, but since she's not a gamer, I didn't really find anything appropriate, and finally Tom pointed out a pretty little silver, chain mail bracelet, and I thought that might be just the thing.

I left the bracelet and a card on the chair behind their booth, and went on to work.

Well, really... I went back to reading the game book behind a chair. Wendy called me a worthless sales bunny and didn't get me ANYTHING when she picked out her trade stuff for working the booth! (harumph!) Ah well. When my Dravani crew suck the life out of her sad little CSO crew... well, we'll just see about worthless!

Turns out, when Simon games, he plays the Dravani too! So he gave me an extra figure that is way awesome! Thanks Simon!!

Elizabeth finally came down to the dealers' room and saw her present and her card. I was hiding in Wendy's purse, but she found me and picked me up and I got a big hug and a kiss on the head and a nice scratch behind the ears. I'm glad she liked the bracelet. She's one of the nicest bipeds I've ever met, and I'm really glad she was in the booth next to us.

Anyway, the day went on. Wendy and Tom sold some chain mail. I'm a worthless sales bunny and did a lot of reading, blah, blah, blah.

I watched Simon and Elizabeth pack up their stuff to leave. And while I was really glad I got to meet them, I wasn't sad or anything that it was all over. I know I'll talk to Simon again (there's a forum on the webpage for Rezolution, and he's on it sometimes, and I just signed up so I know we'll talk there sometime), and Elizabeth.... dear Elizabeth. Well, she could never be mine. But, I'm glad to have gotten to meet her....

... and we'll always have Genghis Con.

Gamer Bunny at Genghis Con - Pt 2

Day two of Genghis Con, which was really good, and sort of bad, but mostly all around good.

Anyway, Wendy was mostly right. I really didn't do a lot of work today, but Wendy and Tom seemed to have it covered, so I don't feel TOO bad. I did help with the Snuffles King, though.

Once His Majesty, the Snuffles High Priest (He's also the King of the Snuffles) got fitted for his armor, I helped him settle in. Strangely enough, he decided that he looked SO good in his armor that he wanted to sit on the table itself and show the world.

He was a fine advertisement for beautiful chain mail, that's for sure. And a lot of people wanted to take HIM home! I think he liked the attention, personally. I know he's got the whole Snuffles Coven and all, but I think it's probably different when strangers think you're cool.

Yesterday, Elizabeth wasn't around too much. But today... she was hanging around behind the table for most of the day. I kept catching little glimpses of her...

... talking to people about Rezolution and stuff. But I was too shy to buy the game from her. I don't know why. But I waited until she had wandered off and bought a whole boatload of Rezolution stuff from Simon.

I took him up on the Convention special...

And he talked me into another couple of armies so that more people could play. I think I have the Snuffles King interested, and I have a feeling that Kumo is going to be ALL over playing the APAC enforcers...

I handed over my hard earned bunny cash, and took back to the booth a bunch of awesome gaming supplies!

And immediately proved Wendy's prediction, and was indeed worthless in terms of customer service, hanging out instead in the back of the booth, reading the book. But what Wendy doesn't know is that she is going to LOVE this game, and that really, I'm helping HER by learning it so well so quickly so I can teach HER to play. Yeah!

I did occasionally look up from my reading to see what Elizabeth was doing. I've just found myself really enchanted by her. She's such a sweetie. She seems like such a gentle spirit.

I found myself with butterflies in my stomach over talking to a GIRL for the first time in a LONG time.

But I finally got up the nerve to say "Hi" and chat with her again. She was very nice, and seemed happy to see me again. We talked for quite a while, and I got to learn all kinds of things about her. She's a vegetarian, and she's super sweet. She love to travel, and stuff. But when I finally got up the nerve to ask her if she'd like to have dinner sometime, well... she broke it to me really gently.

She said that even though she thought I was quite nice, she doesn't date guys shorter than her, and that several FEET shorter than her was really a disadvantage. Well, and she prefers guys with opposable thumbs. And that with her traveling and everything, well... it just wouldn't work out. But she was really nice about it, and it didn't hurt like I thought it would. I went back to the booth and read the book some more, and still found myself smiling when I'd catch a glimpse of her.

I'll get to see her again tomorrow, and then she'll be gone. But I'll be glad to have had the chance to meet her.

And once the convention is over, and Elizabeth and Simon have gone away, I'm going to stomp the ever lovin' snot out of Kumo, and Wendy and the Snuffles King in this game. Oh yeah!

Gamer Bunny at Genghis Con - Pt 1

Wendy and I agreed to work for TML Mailworkes selling chain mail at Genghis Con again. And today was the first day.

The last convention I went to, we were set up next to the nifty t-shirt people. Which was great, and I got Wendy a great shirt from them last time. This time we ended up next to what promises to be my next addiction....

I started taking things in while Wendy and Tom straightened and got everything all settled in for the convention.

Games and stuff across from us.

Dragons and stuff behind us.

Chain mail all looks in order to me.

More games and stuff to the left of us.

But to the right....

There are big banners, and a guy named Simon, advertising something called Rezolution.

It has really spiffy little figure guys.

And lots of spiffy figure options (I love painting figures. I know, I haven't said this to anyone on the blog before. But I really do. Even without opposable thumbs. Go figure.)

Simon offers free demos of the game... and I took him up on it! (And to his credit, he was completely unfazed about playing against a rabbit. I like this guy already.)

The system was quick to play, and a lot of FUN.

We discussed the book. He told me about the con special he was offering.

And he gave me a free copy of the quick start rules.

As I read over them, I watched a couple of other guys play demo games against Simon, and even though he DESIGNED the game, he didn't always win. Which I thought was awesome. There's skill to it, but chance also, and some strategy. And PAINTING! You get to paint the little figure guys, and there's lots of ways to customize and it sounds like my kind of game!

A pretty young lady wandered up to the Rezolution table, and wandered around behind Simon and sat down. She looked bored, and not being one to allow pretty young women to be bored, I of course, said "hi" to her.

Even though she was wearing leopard spots, she wasn't especially fierce, or inclined to eat bunnies. She said her name was Elizabeth, and that she quite liked bunnies, which is good. She's a friend of Simon's, and I found myself thinking "Wow, then maybe _I_ have a chance with her!"

Wendy pointed out later that she's from out of town, so I probably really DON'T have a chance with her, but she said it was a good sign that I was thinking about dating again after getting dumped by Rabbit. And maybe it is. Who knows.

Anyway, I talked to Elizabeth for a while, and upon returning to the TML Mailworkes booth, I told Wendy I am SO buying this game. She said "Really? You're going to play a miniatures game?" and I said "Well, I WAS going to spend my money on this sexy chain mail halter for you, but...." and strangely enough, she said go ahead and buy the game. (shrug)

Girls.

So tomorrow, I'm taking Simon up on his convention special, which rocks. Wendy said this means I'll be worthless as sales help, since she expects I'll be behind the table reading all day. And she might be right. But considering she's going to be my primary opponent she'd better find herself some time to study up too. And tomorrow, I'll be keeping the Snuffles High Priest entertained at the convention, since he'll be coming for his chain mail fitting. So I think that right there counts as some serious customer service. Yes indeedy!

More tomorrow!
