Girls Bonding Over Japanese Things

Weird.

This evening, when Wendy got home from her class, I finally discovered where Kumo's been.

Turns out she's been spending all of her time hanging out with Wendy. Apparently they both sit around and watch videos on Wendy's laptop.

Kumo told me that they've both fallen deeply in love with a Japanese band called Buck-Tick. And though neither one of them speak any Japanese, it doesn't matter because "the beauty of their music transcends all language!"

Um, okay.

The girls have also been bonding over Asian Ball Jointed Dolls. Wendy recently got one in the mail that needed to be washed and restrung, and Kumo has been helping out.

And now Kumo wants an Asian Ball Jointed Doll of her own.

Problem being, 99% of the dolls in the Treehouse don't actually know they're dolls. Rabbit knows that she's a doll, but I think she's the only one. The rest believe they really ARE the characters that Wendy has made them.

It isn't all that uncommon, and I've seen it happen to stuffies too (Kumo and I have a friend who SWEARS that he the real "Elmo". He's tough to have dinner with. Honestly, you can only hear a guy giggle so much, you know?)

Miranda once knew she was a doll. Pixies don't sell themselves at yard sales. But now... it's like she's completely forgotten. The story becomes real the more it's told. And as with a sleepwalker, it can be dangerous to the health of the stuffie or doll to "wake" them

So I don't know if Kumo will be getting one of these dolls or not.

But in the meantime, both girls are planning on learning Japanese, and seem content to surf the web for videos and Ball Jointed Doll websites.

Weird.

Hazy Dayquil Bunny Thoughts

While I'm still pretty stuffy, and I can't hear out of one ear, I do feel much better. I've been drinking lots of hot lemon and honey for my throat, and today I was up and around and surfing the web.

No reason to go rushing back out into the wind and snow and things, you know.

While laying around the house like a giant sea slug, I found myself thinking about many things.

There were some difficulties with my school situation, and so it looks like I won't be a massage therapist like Wendy. I kind of got that feeling, though, even before my...erm... troubles. It really started when Wendy and I went to the chair massage class.

It became obvious that I would not be able to do chair massage. The chairs are HUGE! And while Wendy's classmate, Jeff, came up with a brilliant way I could participate...

...doing scalp massage while a human therapist did the rest, well... it wasn't really what I wanted to do.

I don't know what I'm going to do now, but I'll figure it out. I'm going to finish attending school with Wendy because I think it'll be interesting to have the education.

I finally figured out EXACTLY what to get Wendy for her graduation present. And I ordered it today while surfing around on the web. But I can't tell you what it is, because I happen to know she reads my blog.

We'll have to figure out if I'm going to continue going to school with her in the summer, when she returns for her Associates in massage. She's taking a quarter off, and I figure we can discuss it then. I think I've got her talked into going to Washington State to visit my buddy Mal! So we'll have adventures and plenty of time for forward planning.

Maybe I'll stay home and finally finish my novel. Maybe I'll go back to my previous job - article writing. Maybe there's something else. I just don't know yet.

And maybe while I'm still finishing off the Dayquil isn't the time to be making big career decisions.

Tomorrow, we're going to a karate class. Wendy's been thinking about taking up one of the martial arts for a long time, so we'll have to see how it goes. I'd ask Kumo, my ninja sister, about it, but I haven't seen much of her lately. I don't know where she goes, but it seems like when she's not here watching Ivy, she's gone. Weird.

Anyway, back to laying on the couch, I think. Gotta be all energetic for karate class tomorrow.
